Feeling good

So I’ve been playing quite abit and i just feel like i’m getting better everyday. I feel really confident in the early stages of the tournament and feel I can really accumulate chips. I’m getting good reads on people when I think they’re trying to steal from me. I’ve also really started just playing poker when I play MTT’s. The only distraction I might have is hockey but I only play one tourney when hockey is on so I still have some kind of idea how my table is.

Last few night I went pretty deep in the 27$ tourney at 8pm. Last night I was chipleader from about the end of the first hour up until we were down to maybe 50 peoples. I maybe played a hand a little too aggressive. I raised to steal blinds with 7 6 in middle position (been pretty much running over the table). The SB calls and BB folds. Flop came 6 5 2. He checked, I bet 10K, he raised me to 30K. I just really thought this guy had like K Q and was trying to take it from me because he thought I missed the flop. So I put him all in for 45K more. He had 80K at the start of the hand and I had 130K. He timebanked and finally called with 99. I guess it was an interesting way to play 99. Kinda wished I would have flat called the flop if the turn was the same, turn was A. And I’m pretty sure I would have put him in if he checked and knowing what I know now, he would have folded. I ended up finishing 27th. Went out against that same guy, he raised and I shoved with AK. He had KK, gg. He also took a huge pot early in the tourney, I had 60K and was big chip leader and he had 20K. I was on the button and raised with A 10 suited, and he re raise in SB, I put him in for 14.5K more and he called with 88. 10 on flop 8 on turn … would have been at 80K and 2nd in chips was at 30K. The worst part is, I was back to like 75K in no time. At one point I was at 132K and 2nd was at 90K. Rough way to end it but I’ll be back.

For live games, I played one session this week and finished up 780$. I missed one big draw when I had Ks 3s and the flop was 8s 5s 3h. I just check called all the way because I thought the players were pretty confident with their hands. I thought I could hit my K or 3 or spade to win, and I was right, player had JJ. He would really have hurt me if I went crazy with the hand.

Theres a couple interesting hands, but I’m just lazy today. I must say that theres some bad bluffs that worked that day. I never got caught, but it was a game where I could really get away with bluffing because players gave me a lot of respect and a lot of pretty tight players that won’t call down a big bet with just top pair.

Bad bluff, I limp with Qc 8c in cut off, button raises to 25 total. 2 peoples called and I called. Flop comes Ah Jh 8s. Checked around to button, he bets 40$, everyone folds to me and I call. Turn comes Ac, I bet out 65$ to find out if he has anything, but I was thinking he had some kind of PP. This is where this is bad, he would most likely expect me to bet if I had an Ace on the flop, but I checked called. He was thinking of raising, he took out chips, but decided to fold his Q’s. We saw the river, river was a Q.

Maybe the Wii will stop me ….

Sometime next week, I will be getting a Nintendo Wii that I ordered through Ebay. I already went and got TW2007 and Call of Duty 3. I also have the 5 sport games that come with it and i got another game with 9 other popular games(Table Tennis being a pre-game favorite). I’m really excited and i’m hoping the Wii will make me play a little less poker. Playing is great but I seem to play a lot better when I take little breaks and when I don’t play everyday. Seems like when you play everyday, your just chasing your money that you lost the day before. I told Fishbones we should try and play 3 days a week only. Once live and 2 tournament nights a week. That way, we still do some school work and still do other things. Right now, I’m down to 1 live session per week, but I still end up playing tourneys on Sundays, Mondays and Wednesday nights. The only thing is that I end up playing some HU matches and a little bit of cash games when I got an hour to spare.

Poker and life ....

Hey, I’ve been on a roll in live cash games, and to be honest, I’m not really playing that well. I’m just getting really lucky at the right time. I think that people are trying to bluff me and I luck out on the river after I make a horrible call. I try to bluff someone to make him think I have a flush on a 4 card flush board and he calls me with 2 pairs, but the river hit my case 10h to make a boat.

Besides that, I’ve been playing 20$ HU on PS and playing PL Omaha on Stars also and have been doing ok. For some reason, when I just play HU I win like 4 – 5 matches in a row, and when I play HU tourneys, I’m always out in the first match. The tournaments have just been horrible. When I’m all in or call someone all in preflop, when I’m ahead, I find a way to lose, and when I’m behind, I can’t catch up. I played 2 10$ Rebuy tourneys and I didn’t win a hand in the first hour of both of those tourneys. So I finish the breaks with 5000$ in chips after the double rebuy and add on and I really build my stack. I’m starting to think I should just sit out the first hour and start playing at the second hour.

Besides that, the Young Gunz, my ball hockey team, we had a big win last night. I think the game finished like 17 – 1. I finished the game with 4 goals and 2 assists. Then I went to see the movie 300. I thought it was a good movie, lots of action, and pretty much the perfect time, about 2 hours. The story was pretty basic, but still interesting and I thought it was easy to get into the movie.

Right now I’m at work and on my lunch break, boy those work seem pointless when you worked 4 weeks and you got a 600$ pay check when I played a 6 hour session on Sunday and made 1000$.

I’ll be playing tourneys tonight, I guess I’m going to have to slow down on the blind stealing, I think that’s why I’m getting killed the last few days. Been stealing too many blinds and people have been going all in a lot when I try to steal the blinds, and sometimes I am priced in and I’m dominated.

Be back later this week.

MTT'S, TS and cash games

So I got like another 20 minutes at work and Im deciding to post on my blog. Online hasn’t been that great. Just when it seems its getting better, I get a night where I run super bad. I played in about 15 tournys on Monday night and didn’t even come close to cashing in any of them. I played a tourny on Thursday night and finished in 2nd and won 4830$US. Fealt awesome to finaly win a big one. The live games are good still. I was down 3700$ a month ago and now I’m up 1845$. The worst part is, I only played 5 or 6 sessions.

I got a couple hands you might like to hear.

I’m going to start with the session before I went to TS.

I only remember this hand. It’s a limped pot and I’m in the SB with J 6. Flop comes out J 8 7. Theres like 30$ in the pot, so I bet 25$ and I got called by 2 peoples. Pot is now 105$. Turn is a J, I slow down because I thought someone might have flopped a straight. I check, and everyone checks. River is a 6. At this point, I guess no1 flopped a straight, so I bet so that someone will call with either an 8 or a 7 or someone that slow played an over pair. I bet 45$ into that pot, first guy calls and the other player makes it 150$ total. The player that flat called the flop is thinking of re-raising in that spot. So he asks me what do I have and I only respond, I have a good hand. He flat calls and shows 4 5 other player claims to have 9 10. Overall, I think the hand was pretty poorly played by them.

Thats the only hand I remember from before TS.

In TS, I played a couple pots where I had huge draws.

I limp with 10s 8s in early position at 1 – 2 and player in the cut off raises to 16$. I’m the only caller. At this point, I think he probably has a big pair. Flop comes 8h Qs 7s. I check, he bets 25$, I raise to 75$, the shoves his last 100$ in and now I have to call. He shows AA with no spade. Pot is just about 400$ and the turn and river are blanks, I lose the pot.

I limp in with Jd 10d. Player in SB raises to 16$, and I’m the only one who calls. Flop comes Qd Qh 7d. He bets 30$, at this point I think he has AA or KK or maybe even JJ. I think I can push him off his hand, so I make is 95$ total. He then goes all in for maybe 75$ more. He shows Q J. Turn was a K to give me even more outs, river a blank. Another pot just under 400$ that I lose In that game.

A really tight player raises from UTG to 10$ and a couple people call and I call with K J on the button. Flop comes A 7 3. The pre flop raiser bets 25$ into the pot of about 50$, Everone folds and I think he has like QQ , so I make it 75$ total and he folds.

I pick up 7c 3c and I limp in Late position, maybe 6 peoples in the hand and the pot is 12$. Flop comes Jh Qh 4c. Its checked around, Turn comes 6c. Blinds check, UTG bet 10$, I make it 20$, SB makes it 65$, UTG shoves for 120$. I have 131$ total and decide to flat call. SB puts me in. They show 44 and 66 both of them with sets. I show my 7 3 and the river is a 5s. SHIP IT. Fealt good to hit one. LOL Now to the 5-5 game in TS.

The first hand I played during the night was against Krissy. Pot is raised to 25 in middle position, im in the cut off and just flat call with QQ. The player right next to me makes it 75$ to go. Krissy in the BB shoves all in. Its folded to me and I wait abit, and I call. The guy that raised to 75 folds. She Shows AK. I thought she had either that or Jacks. The flop was K Q J. Turn was 10 River 6. Nice straight.

I rebuy, couple hands later, I pick up KK in the SB and UTG makes it 25 to go. Its folded around to me. I know this player is super aggressive player, so I just called in the SB. BB folded. Flop came Jh 10d 6h. I checked, he bet 50$ into 55$ pot, I make it 125$ to go. At this point, I decided that im going all in for my last 250$ pretty much no matter what comes. Turn is Kh, I go all in for 250$ and he says, well I have to call now. He had QQ with the Qh. River 10. So im back to even for the day.

I raise in middle position to 25$ with Js 9s, cut off calls and blinds call. Pot is 100$. Flop comes Jh 10s 4h. Blinds check, I bet 65$, cut off calls, blinds fold. Turn is 8c. I bet 100$ and he goes all in for 235$ more. So now the pot is about 670$ and its costing me 235$ to call. Im not really sure what he has, but im getting almost 3 to 1 and the only way im drawing dead is if he has Q9, but I don’t think he has that. So I call, and he has AA. I had a lot more outs then I thought to start with. Any J, 9 Q 7. River was a blank and I lose. Im not down to about 300$ in chipsI decide not to rebuy.

Next pot I play, everyone at the table limps in, including UTG and im in BB with Ks Js and i'm feeling that i'm going to need to win a pot soon and i want to build the pot. I make it 25$ total and UTG makes it 75$ to go. Its folded around to me, and i say, well i made this happen, i have to call. So i put him on a big PP. Flop comes out Ac 7s 5s. I go all in for my last 200$ into a pot of about 190$. I thinks hes going to fold KK and QQ in this spot for sure. He calls with A Q with no spades. Turn is 4s. I WIN.

I grinded it out, won a couple pots and then this hand was a big one. UTG makes it 10$ blind, and next player makes it 20$. I'm first to act and call with Qd 10d. There one more caller and the SB makes it 80$ total, its folded to me and i decide to play the hand, and one more player calls. The pot is now about 280$. The flop comes 10h 3h 5c. The SB bets 75$, i thought this was a really weak bet, so made it 200$ total. Then the next player was thinking about it, and i was looking at the guy in the SB and it looked like he was going to fold, and then he acted out of turn and said, i call. Then the other guy went all in for 180$ total, and the SB now call in turn. So now the pot is roughly 960$. The turn is 4s. SB checks and then i go all in for 450$. The SB folds right away. River is Kd, i show my hand and the player that was all in says my hand is good. The SB said he folded A 10, but i still think he folded AK, either way, i made him fold the winners.

I then played a couple sessions back home.

Theres actually alot of interesting hands, but right now i really don't feel like writing. I guess i might update this if i'm ever bored at work sometimes next week.

MTTs and more hands from TS

So ive been playing mostly online and playing a lot of MTTs. I was doing pretty good, cashing in about 25% at one point and now it just went completely the other way. I don’t think I cashed in the last few days. Played maybe 15 to 20 tournys. Seems I always make the wrong move at the wrong time.

Heres an example. Im on the button, blinds are 100 – 200, I make it 3x with Qd 9d. BB calls, flop comes out Js 7s 3s. He bets 800. I decide to float him, if he doesn’t bet, Im going to bet the turn if theres no spade, if he bets again, he probably has a J. Turn comes Qh, he bets 2000. Now I have just under 5K more. So I go all in, he only covers me by 1K. He snap calls with 7 7.

I decide to stop and go as long as no Ace comes on the flop since this guy has been stealing my blinds for the last 3 rounds. He 3x it to 1200 and I call with Kh 9h in the BB. I have 2700 left behind and hes going to be getting about 2 to 1. Flop comes out Jh Jc 2h. Perfect flop, I can even beat a J. So I go all in, he snap calls with Ah Qh. LOL

I guess I could post a couple more hands from TS that I played in the 1-2 game.

This guy just lost a big pot on a bluff and I can tell hes really steaming. He makes it 18$ to go in late position and I have Qh Jh on the button. I call and everyone else folds. Flop comes Ah 10c 8h. He comes out betting 15$, I make it 45$, he re pops it to 95$ total. I flat call. Turn comes Qs. He goes all in for 135$. The pot is about 365$. I think if I hit a heart, K 9 or Q Im probably good. I think he has like AK probably. So I call. He shows A Q. River 3h.

I raise 12$ UTG with Qs 8s. SB calls and BB calls. Flop comes out Qh Qc 10c. They both check I bet out 20$, SB snap calls, BB folds. Turn comes 10s. SB checks, and then I look at him as if to say and I check behind. River comes a blank. He checks again and I bet 35$ trying to look a little scared. He thinks for abit and calls. I didnt see his hand.

I pick up Ac 8c in late position and Ive been making pot building raises all night, so I do it again, make it 7$. I get a couple callers. Flop comes out 8s 8d 9d. BB bets out 6$, and I raise to 16$ total. He calls, only us 2 left in the hand. I forget the pot but it was medium size … think we only had one more caller. I guess the pot Is around 60$. Turn comes 9c. He checks, I check. River comes Jh. He comes out and bets 20$. I was looking at him, and he looked really confident when he bet 20$ and I really thought he was strong or that he thought he was strong. So I said, screw you, Im not paying you off and I fold my A8 face up. He then shows Qd 10d. LOL

That same guy did something else like that later but I don’t remember the hand.

I raise in Position with A K to 7$. Flop comes out Js 9c 5h. Everyone checks to me and I bet 15$. I get one caller. Turn is Kd. He comes out and bets 15$. I call. River comes a blank. He bets 20$. I said, you have Q 10 .. I fold face up. I know what your thinking, Im getting like 5 to 1. He then showed Q 10. Sick fold, only 20$. Still sick

Tight player ahead of me hasnt really done anything since I got to the table raises to 10$, I make it 25$ in the cut off with KK. Gets back around to him and he goes all in for 85$ total. I start thinking, and people think Im fooling around. I really thought the guy had AA. I said I wanna fold(I had my cards open on the table), but I cant fold for 60$. He flips over AA. I was really happy I had the right instinct, but I guess mad that I called … but that didnt last long when the K came on the river.

I really liked this hand, even though, these hands arent that hard to play when the guy is set up.

Theres a raise UTG I think to 12$, and I have a crazy loose image at this table, my chips have been going up and down all night. I have QQ and make it 25$ total. Everyone folds and the UTG raiser calls. Flop comes out Q J J. He checks, I bet 25$, he raises to 50$(during this hand I was eating Eggs Benedict. .. those things are awesome … I didnt even stop eating … I would bet then go to eat.) I just flat called the 25$ more. Turn came a blank, he Bet out 50$. I flat called again. River came another blank, and he checked, I bet 50$. I think he had like 125$ left. He called thinking that he was beat. He showed K J. Pretty much set up for him.

Another day, same table I raised UTG with Qs 8s, maybe 1 hour later. I made it 12$ with JJ UTG. UTG +1 calls, Cut off makes it 35$ total, we both call. Flop comes out Q Q J. I check, UTG +1 bets 35$(right now I really think this guy has a Q, hes been playing a little crazy) Cut off ask how much chips he has and calls the 35$. The pot is now about 175$ and I make it 100$ total to go making the pot 275$ and they would have to call 65$ more. The both fold almost right away. They had A K and K 10. I really thought the guy had a Q. He didn’t and probably made minimum in that hand.

Heres a huge hand for my night. New player on the table makes it 7$ to go pre and I have 4c 5d on the button. I think we end up being 5 or 6 in the hand to see the flop. Flop comes 3c 6c 9h. Pre flop raiser bets 20$, guy calls, I call and BB calls. Turn is 7d. I think it’s a sick card for me. Pre flop raiser makes it 60$, guy calls, I Go all in for 340$(I cover everyone) Players that called have about 80$ left. I bet that because the BB had about 220$ left and I didnt want him to be calling with a straight draw or flush draw(hes a solid player from what Ive seen). He snap calls, other 2 guys call. Cards come out, preflop raiser has 3 3, other guy has Ac 9c I show my straight, and BB shows Nut straights. LOL .. Im the one that went all in and I was the only one drawing dead. Was funny.

I raised in middle positions to 12$ with 5s 2c, 2 callers. Flop came out Js Qc 8s. I bet out 25$. I got one caller. Turn came Jh. I bet out 35$, he asked how much I had left and I had 75$ left, and then he called. I was pretty sure he was on flush draw, and this was the guy I hit the flush on with my QhJh. So he wanted to beat me. I decided before the river card came out that I was going to snap call if my hand Pairs up except for the 2s. So I had 5 outs to snap call the guy. River was Ah and he install shoved. I folded and he showed Ks 6s all proud of his bluff. I said .

It was a week where i kept having flushes and running into bigger flushes though. I think it happen atleast 5 times where i had a flush and player had a bigger flush. It only happen once that there was 4 of that suit on the board, meaning we both had 2 cards to make our flush. The hands that it happen was 75 twice, once with 74 and the last one with 8 4. Makes you wonder why i even play these hands but ill let my straight flushes speak for themselves.

I might have some more later, but thats all for now.
